THE ISLAND CULTURE & HISTORY
HACHIJOJIMA
Far south of Tokyo, Hachijojima rises from the sea. This is a place of fierce beauty and relentless spirit, where subtropical winds carve the land. A bold landscape shaped by outcasts and carved by time.
This is the terroir of Hachijojima. Volcanic earth remembers every eruption, every struggle. Shochu culture arrived on the backs of exiles and took root in the soil.
Taste the island’s salty air, black sand, and untamed spirit in every glass.

ZAININ Hachijojima
TERROIR Shochu
720ml
Satsuma Masari sweet potatoes, raised on the island by the master distiller’s own hands, meet barley koji in a clash of tradition and raw craft. The ancient atmospheric distillation method draws out their wildest edges.
Sweet potato brings a rush of earthy sweetness; barley ignites with fire-roasted depth. The result is a Shochu, alive with layers and attitude.
Every sharp nuance and wild complexity is pulled to the surface, forging a spirit that pulses with the terroir of Hachijojima and the untamed mind of its maker.

BALANCE PERFECTED
Sweet Potato and
Barley,The Perfect 50:50
Balance.
Every layer of flavor and aroma is drawn out—including the distinctive edges and complexity of the raw ingredients. The master distiller grows Satsuma Masari sweet potatoes himself, a variety well suited to Hachijojima’s soil, and ferments them with barley koji before traditional atmospheric distillation.
To let both ingredients take center stage, the sweet potato shochu and barley shochu are blended in equal measure: 50:50. The generous sweetness of the sweet potato meets the deep, roasted character of barley koji, creating a bold, layered expression that is unmistakably Hachijojima.
